Transcription and captions
Same-language subtitles and closed captions, with speaker changes and sound cues for viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Subtitles · Captions · Translation
Subtitles decide whether a story travels, and captions decide whether a muted scroll stops. We transcribe, translate, time and style subtitles in any language, as files for platforms or as captions burnt into the picture.
What's included
Good subtitles are invisible work: the right words, on screen at the right moment, for exactly as long as it takes to read them.
01
Same-language subtitles and closed captions, with speaker changes and sound cues for viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing.
02
Subtitles that read naturally in the target language, condensed to fit reading speed without losing the meaning, the joke or the tone.
03
Each subtitle timed to the speech and the cuts, kept on screen long enough to read, and split where the sentence breaks naturally.
04
Captions styled for social and vertical video, placed clear of the app's buttons, in the brand's fonts and colours.
05
SRT and WebVTT files, and the other formats your platform's delivery spec asks for, named and versioned per language.
06
Every file checked for timing, spelling, line length and overlaps before delivery. We are building our own subtitle and QC platform, AlokickFlow, from the problems we fix on every delivery.
Languages
We work in more than 12 Indian languages, including Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and Bhojpuri, and more than 25 foreign languages, including English, Spanish, French and Brazilian Portuguese. For other languages, we bring in native speakers.
Subtitles can go in any direction: English subtitles for Hindi and regional films, Hindi subtitles for English content, and foreign-language subtitles for audiences abroad. Pair them with dubbing and one master can serve many markets.
How subtitling works
Speech recognition for a first draft, then corrected by people against the picture.
Adapted into each target language, with a glossary for names and terms.
Timed to speech and shot changes, within reading-speed limits.
Files to the platform's spec, or captions designed and burnt in.
Checked in context, on the picture, then delivered per language.
Questions
Subtitles give the dialogue, usually translated, for viewers who can hear but don't speak the language. Closed captions are for viewers who can't hear the audio: they include the dialogue plus speaker labels and important sounds, and can be switched on or off.
SRT and WebVTT as standard, and the other formats your platform or broadcaster specifies. Send the delivery spec and we'll match it.
Yes, and the other way round. We subtitle between Hindi, other Indian languages, English and foreign languages, in any direction.
For the first draft, often. Speech recognition is fast, but it mishears names, mixed Hindi and English, and fast dialogue, so every subtitle is corrected, timed and checked by people before it goes out.
Yes. We burn in captions styled for vertical video, placed clear of each app's buttons, in batches if you have many videos.
By the running minute and the number of languages, with burnt-in caption styling quoted separately when you need it.
